Jetfly: Is it one of Malta’s Coolest Activities?

If you’re still trying to figure out what Jetfly is all about, it’s a pretty straightforward concept. You strap a water-propelled jetpack to your body that allows you to hover 10 metres into the air. Although that might seem scary, the fact of the matter is that the technology used for Jetfly is advanced enough that controlling the jetpack is pretty straightforward and relies on light fingertip control. You can move in all directions as well as land with ease.

Though we’re pretty sure that the main point of attraction with jetflying lies in the pure thrill of the activity itself, but a definite bonus is that being propelled into the air in that way will give you a gorgeous view of your Maltese surroundings!

There are two main options when it comes to your Jetfly adventure: you can either fly solo, or in tandem with a certified instructor, which is also known as the Joy Ride. The differences are pretty straightforward.

If you choose the tandem option, you’ll mostly be controlled by the instructor and you can simply enjoy the ride without having to worry about getting to grips with the way everything works. If you don’t plan on jetflying regularly, or if you have younger children (children must be at least 4 years old to jetfly in tandem), this could definitely be the choice for you.

The solo option includes an actual lesson on how to manoeuvre and you can put what you’ve learnt to practice as you won’t have the instructor controlling your every step as you fly! This is the option we recommend if you like to be a bit more intuitive and adventurous. It’s also great for anyone aged 12 and up.

There are a few other factors that might influence your decision. For example, the Joy Ride option comes with a weight limit of 75 kg while the Solo option has no such restriction. Price might also factor in, but the difference is actually really negligible: Solo flights cost €80 while the Joy Ride is €70.
