Isle of MTV 2018- First Act Announced

For all of its abundant art, culture, and history, Malta is sometimes regarded as one big islandful of a party. And guess what? Locals highly encourage the thought! We host some of the biggest, world-renowned parties on this island (thing Glitch, Tomorrowland etc.), yet these events cannot begin to compare with the popularity of Isle of MTV…

What is Isle of MTV?

Isle of MTV is Malta’s number one annual summer music festival organised by MTV Europe itself, where well-renowned music artists perform in front of thousands of people from all around the world. Before establishing itself in Malta in 2007, this festival was held in Spain, Portugal, France, and Italy. Therefore, this year will mark the 11th anniversary of Malta’s biggest open-air festival in its history! Big names that have participated in the Isle of MTV festival in the past include Maroon 5, Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg, Will.I.Am, Wiz Khalifa, and DNCE. So, who’s coming this year (apart from you, of course)?

First Act for Isle of MTV 2018- Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike

Dimitri Thivaios and Michael Thivaios are the Greek/Belgian masterminds behind this chart-topping DJ Duo, ranking number 1 and number 2 consecutively in 2014, 2015, 2016 and again in 2017 on the Top 100 DJs List. They quickly rose to fame when they hosted Tomorrowland for the first time, and were given the go-ahead to make the anthem of the Tomorrowland Festival, “Tomorrow (Give in to the Night)”, featuring Dada Life and Tara McDonald.

Following that milestone, the duo went on to create other yearly anthems, such as “The Way we see the World” and “Tomorrow changed Today”, but their biggest hit was surely their 2014 single “Tremor”, featuring Martin Garrix. In 2015, their single “The Hum”, in collaboration with Ummet Ozcan, saw them reaching for the number 1 spot in Belgian singles charts, and winning them “Best Global Dj”, “Best Big Room DJ”, “Best Music Video” and earning them a Platinum record in their country.
